About the Park

This is one of the most iconic parks in America! The NPS website mentions the following:

Ridge upon ridge of forest straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America’s most visited national park.

Always remember to follow park rules and regulations and absolutely never approach wildlife (including bears…and especially mother bears with cubs). It’s illegal to approach any bears within 50 yards at Smoky Mountains National Park, not to mention dangerous. The two best ways to enjoy your camping trip are “not mauled” and “not in jail,” and the easiest way to do that is to follow the rules. Learn more about Cades Cove here.
